{"id":5145,"date":"2022-11-25T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.balance-menopause.com\/?p=5145"},"modified":"2022-11-24T16:14:53","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T16:14:53","slug":"how-hrt-can-help-us-lead-longer-healthier-lives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.balance-menopause.com\/news\/how-hrt-can-help-us-lead-longer-healthier-lives\/","title":{"rendered":"How HRT can help us lead longer, healthier lives"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dr Louise Newson talks menopause at prestigious Longevity Forum summit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Menopause Specialist and balance founder Dr Louise Newson has been sharing insights in how HRT can help us lead longer, healthier lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a talk at the <a href=\"https:\/\/thelongevityforum.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Longevity Forum<\/a> Science Summit 2022 on 16 November in London, Dr Newson spoke about the role of estrogen throughout our bodies, and the long-term health risks associated with low hormones during and after the menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Inflammaging and hormones<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Low estrogen results in the immune cells to work less efficiently which results in low-grade inflammation occurring. This is actually detrimental for the body and is known as \u201cinflammageing\u201d \u2013 literally meaning ageing that occurs as a result of inflammation. &nbsp;This process increases risk of inflammatory diseases occurring \u2013 including cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer\u2019s disease, clinical depression and even some types of cancer. Parkinson\u2019s disease has also been shown to increase in women who have an early menopause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.balance-menopause.com\/subject\/hrt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RELATED: Read more about HRT here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>HRT and future health<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Newson also spoke about the benefits of HRT, not only in relieving menopause symptoms, but in reducing risk of these inflammatory conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also appeared as a guest on the <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/gb\/podcast\/mission-menopause-with-louise-newson-and-claire-mellon\/id1495909954?i=1000586014209\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Longevity Forum podcast this month<\/a>, where she spoke about Newson Health\u2019s research work, research ambitions for the future, and why is she determined to close the knowledge gap that exists in looking at not only how HRT improves symptoms, but how it can improve future health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Newson Health\u2019s research aims for the future<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Part of our ambitious aims are about looking more closely at disease prevention,\u2019 Dr Newson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018About 30% of a woman\u2019s life is lived post-menopause with low hormone levels.
