Dr Kaye has just released a new book titled &#8216;The M Word: Everything You Need to Know About the Menopause&#8217; and she talks to Dr Newson all about it and explains why she decided to write a book about this area of a woman&#8217;s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Newson and Dr Kaye discuss a number of women&#8217;s health topics in this informative podcast, including safe sex, STD prevention and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.balance-menopause.com\/menopause-library\/contraception-during-the-menopause-and-perimenopause\/\">contraception<\/a>&nbsp;around the time of the menopause and perimenopause &#8211; when you can stop, when you need protection and the different options available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Newson also chats to Dr Kaye about the taboo surrounding women&#8217;s health in general and why it&#8217;s important that we change the narrative surrounding the menopause.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Philippa Kaye&#8217;s Three Take Home Tips about Contraception and Menopause:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You probably need it no matter how old you are! You will need contraception up until 55 depending on when your menopause was and then afterwards as a barrier against STDs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some of that contraception can be used as part of HRT, such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.balance-menopause.com\/menopause-library\/the-mirena-coil-or-intrauterine-system-ius\/\">mirena coil.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Even if you are going or have gone through an early menopause, you may still need contraception. If you have the right menopause treatment and your libido improves, that&#8217;s great!
